Nicky Shorey has agreed to become an ambassador for Over The Wall, a children's charity providing activity camps to children affected by serious illness.

The Royals left back first visited Over The Wall when they were named winners of the Places For Players competition held as part of the Premier League's Creating Chances campaign.

He was impressed with work they do to rebuild the confidence of seriously ill children and has now taken on the ambassador role.

"We are delighted that Nicky has agreed to be an ambassador for us, and we hope that he will help us to raise the profile of the charity as we move into a period of growth in 2008." said Clive Clifford, CEO.

Nicky said, "I am delighted to be involved with Over The Wall, they do such good work with some very sick children. As a footballer I am in a privileged position and can hopefully make a difference, so I see this relationship as the right thing to do."
