Michael Duberry and John Oster are urging Royals fans to get a free blood pressure check at Madejski Stadium.

As part of the Blood Pressure Association's Know Your Numbers week, free blood pressure checks will be on offer to members of the public and staff from 10am-6pm on Tuesday 11th September at Madejski Stadium

This is part of the nation's biggest blood pressure testing and awareness event, organised by UK charity the Blood Pressure Association.

Trained staff from Fitness First health and fitness club in Reading, on behalf of the Blood Pressure Association, will be providing the free checks and giving out information about high blood pressure at the 'Pressure Stations' set up in Executive Boxes at the Stadium.

Reading FC is among more than 2,700 BPA 'Pressure Stations' across the country being held at high street and supermarket pharmacies, GP surgeries, shopping centres, health clubs, leisure centres and other community venues as part of KYN Week.

16 million adults in the UK have high blood pressure, which uncontrolled and undetected is the biggest cause of death and disability through stroke, heart attack and heart disease.

Yet 5.3 million don't know they have high blood pressure because there are no symptoms which is why the BPA has themed this year's event 'Finding the Missing Millions'.

Duberry said, "It's shocking to learn that there are millions of people out there who have high blood pressure but are unaware of it, and are putting themselves at risk of stroke and heart attack.

"Having a blood pressure check is quick, painless and free, so tell your mum, dad, friends - everyone you know - to get their blood pressure checked during the BPA's Know Your Numbers! Week to help them stay healthy - now and in the future."

Oster added, "Too many people are unaware that they are putting their health at risk because they aren't looking after their blood pressure.

"None of us should take our health for granted so I, along with the rest of the lads, are urging all adults to get a blood pressure check during the week of action."

Sue Massey, the BPA's Head of Communications, said: "We are delighted that Reading FC and Fitness First are supporting Know Your Numbers and helping us to raise awareness about high blood pressure.

"The good news is that high blood pressure can be treated, and often prevented, but the first step to reducing your risk is to know your numbers!"
