Complete Member Card FAQ
Here are a list of our most frequently asked questions. This was compiled on the launch of our Member Cards in summer 2005.
Can I buy a ticket for a non-member?
No. All supporters attending Premiership fixtures and purchasing away tickets will need to be either Member Card or Season Ticket holders. All tickets are sold on a Royalty Point basis to ensure a fair distribution of the limited number of home tickets available. This ensures supporters who attend regularly are able to purchase tickets first.
Holding a Member card is the key way of collecting these points. In addition, Membership also simplifies the process of buying tickets and creates an easier and more secure way of entering the stadium which reduces the ability of tickets to be touted.
What information is held on the card?
The information stored on your card includes your name and customer number along with the history of your registered RFC ticket purchases from the 2004/5 season onwards. It will also include details such as date of birth, entitlement to any concessions and your Royalty Points total.
How does the access card work?
To enter the Stadium you simply hold the card into a reader at the entrance to the turnstile. The reader then checks immediately against the database to confirm the card is valid for that game. You then go through the turnstile.
A series of lights on the inside then confirms to a helper whether the card is valid for an adult or a concession rate or whether there are any problems to be dealt with.
What happens if I have a problem with my card upon entry?
Should there be any problems a Customer Support helper positioned outside the Stadium will be able to assist, or you can go to a ticket office for help.
What happens if I lose my access card?
As soon as you realise you have lost your access card then you should report it to the Ticket Office. The card will then be cancelled and a new one issued (assuming it hasn't already been used to gain access to the Stadium, if it is a match day). There will be an appropriate charge for replacing lost or stolen access cards.
Do I still get Royalty Points even though I do not have a Member Card?
No. Points earned are not valid without a Member Card.
How does the Royalty Points system work?
Points are collected for attending games and then used to allocate tickets for big games. For example, for games against the biggest teams, fans with the highest number of Royalty Points will have initial access to book tickets, this will reduce over time until all tickets are sold.
Can my card be used for cup games?
Yes. Season Ticket holders will need to purchase any home cup games as usual and your card will then be activated for that particular game. Member Card holders will have their card activated in the same manner when they purchase for that particular game.
Can my card be used for away games?
Not yet. However, a long term benefit of the card may be that cards could be valid for other stadiums using the same system. For example Liverpool and Man City use the same system this season.
How can I access my record of Royalty Points?
You can view your complete records in the online ticketing system, and the ticket office staff will also be happy to provide your current loyalty points figure.
The new Member Card is not a combined credit or debit card, I take it the ticket details are loaded onto the card after we pay in any form?
Yes, you can pay by cash, cheque, credit or debit card.
Will our details be sold to third parties without consent?
No, we will not do this. However, an advantage of the Member Card for RFC is that it gives us a greater understanding of our supporters and what they want from the Club. It also allows us to develop the fanbase and fill the Stadium more regularly, as well as build a database of information, which will make us a more attractive club for potential sponsors and could therefore earn more money to spend on the team.
Sometimes fans cannot attend games at late notice and need to pass tickets onto friends or family due to unforeseen circumstances. Under the system will the new holders be able to gain access to the ground with their friends/relatives' card?
Yes, providing they are using are a card relevant to their status (eg adults cannot use under 16s cards).
Will season ticket holders be sent a new Member Card automatically or will we need to apply?
Your season ticket card is also your member card, so you don't need to apply.
My five-year old son is a season ticket holder, but I don't intend taking him to evening games. Will I be able to upgrade his ticket so that an adult can use his seat?
Yes, we can do this providing you contact the ticket office before the match day. The charge is the difference between a concession and an adult ticket. This is limited to 3 per season.
What hard copy information regarding seat details is sent to the card holder?
We can send confirmation by email, text message or letter. Also note ticket office assistants will operate cutting edge technology both inside and outside the stadium on matchdays to assist supporters with any seating issues.
How do those buying tickets on the day get Royalty Points on their card?
All Royalty Points are automatically added if the Member Card is used to be a ticket. If you buy a paper ticket, you won't get Royalty Points.
Can you collect Royalty Points for away games?
Over the course of the season, you will be able to collect 5 Royalty Points for attending away games - as long as you buy the tickets in advance from RFC (new rules state that away clubs receive 5% of ticket revenue for tickets bought in advance by away fans, so we would like to encourage fans to buy their away tickets from RFC prior to matchday).
I'm a season ticket holder so my seat details will be published on my card as normal, but sometimes I like to sit elsewhere for cup games, will I still be able to do this?
Yes - Ticket Office staff will advise further details at the time of booking.
I usually buy tickets for four people, who will all be members. Can I still buy all our tickets?
Yes, if you have all the customer numbers you can buy other people's tickets and they will all receive the appropriate Royalty Points. You can permanently link your account to friends and family members online or over the telephone. This way, all future multiple buying will be much easier as there will be no need to remember others details each time you book.
I am a season ticket holder; do I need to purchase a membership card?
No, Membership Cards act the same as a Season Ticket Card and no separate card is required. Season Ticket Cards are pre-loaded with the season's home games for a particular seat on them whereas membership cards are not fixed to a specific seat and can be used to book tickets on a match by match basis.
I used to be a season ticket holder; can my old season ticket card be used as a membership card?
No. Expired Season Ticket Cards (cards which have a seat number printed on them for a previous season) cannot be used as member cards and you will need to purchase a new member card. These are priced at £10 for adults, £3 for concessions however we are able to transfer previous transaction history on to new cards.
