Ibrahima Sonko was delighted to be back in action at the weekend, but his joy was tempered by the team's heavy 4-2 defeat away to Blackburn.

It was nine months to the day since Ibu had last played in the Barclays Premier League, and he put in a solid performance, before understandably tiring a little toward the end of the game.

Getting the full 90 minutes was a huge boost to the 26-year-old, and speaking in an interview that is being screened now on Reading World, he said, "The leg is fine but obviously the bad thing is that we lost.

"We started OK but as soon as they got one they kept scoring. I was like 'wow, what's happening.'

"We were doing well until the first goal.

"It didn't work the way the manager wanted, but overall it's down to the players and we know that.

"We reacted well in the second half, and that's the only positive thing we can take."

His injury showed no reaction whatsoever, and there was no quarter given by a top strike force of Roque Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy.

He said, "The knee is fine.

"I need games like this to get back to my best. I need another game or two.

"I played the full 90, which was surprising, I thought I would get 60 or 70 minutes."

There is more from Sonks on World now, including his views on the penalty he conceded, and a look at the message from his grandfather written on the tongue of his boots.

Extended video highlights from the game are also online there now.
