Steve Coppell says he is trying to get striker Dave Kitson to play further up the pitch and get himself in and around the penalty area as much as possible

Kitson often drops deep to get involved in the play, and while he is extremely accomplished at bring others into the game, the boss wants him to do what he does best and get on the end of things inside the box.

Steve said, "We try and demand that he stays up the field, because that's where he is more effective. But when we made a change on Saturday, he dropped into a little deeper role and he's very capable of playing that.

"The big tall fellas look as if they don't have the same passion and desire sometimes as the shorter swifterfooted players. And yet his determionation to do well individually and for the team is unparalleled."

Kitson's fellow striker Shane Long made a real impact when coming off the bench against Birmingham, first winning the free kick for Andre Bikey's winner, then drawing another foul from Liam Ridgewell which could and probably should have seen the defender sent off for a second yellow card.

Steve said, "He may have broken his nose. It probably would have been a yellow card. I'm certainly not criticising the officials though. You can always find something, but if the players made as few mistakes as the officials we wouldn't be where we are today."
