Rosenior: Time for cool heads
Liam Rosenior was hugely disappointed to see the Royals lose 2-0 to his former team Fulham on Saturday, but remains confident we have more than enough quality to secure safety in the Barclays Premier League.
The defeat, combined with Bolton's 1-0 home win over West Ham, sees us now three points above the bottom three with another four games left to play.
Saturday's result was a blow to our survival chances, but Liam asserts that we can and will improve quickly.
He said, "Fulham deserved three points. It's a shame it happened here, and now we need to stay positive.
"That applies to everyone - the players, management, fans, coaching staff, because we are good enough.
"Sometimes you can over-analyse, we have just got to go out there, play and win games. We must put a line under it and be better next week.
"We'll have a look back at this game and analyse it, but this is a time for cool heads. I was in this situation last season at Fulham, you have to stay cool and make right decisions.
"If you do that, you'll win games. We've got the players to do that, no doubt. We have four games to get it right and if we win two of them then we will be fine. If we panic, we won't play well.
"We felt positive going into the game. In the first 20 minutes we had chances and were getting forward but the goal killed us. The cross took a nick off me and it was perfect for McBride, who's a good finisher.
"In games like that, it can knock the stuffing out of you. They grew in confidence and were keeping the ball. They had nothing to lose, they could get on the ball and play.
"Fulham won, but I would still rather be in our position than theirs. We've got a three-point cushion, and a couple of months ago we'd have taken that. It's in our hands."
