Hunty hopeful for 'massive' clash
Stephen Hunt says that tomorrow's Barclays Premier League game at Wigan is extremely important - but stops short of labelling it a 'must win'.
The Irish winger knows that three points from the JJB Stadium will go a long way to helping the Royals secure Premier League safety for next season. And he says that he is looking forward to the pressure of the occasion.
Hunt said, "The next three games are massive. I don't think that this weekend is really make or bust, a point will do us. We are looking to go to Wigan and put in a good performance.
"Arsenal were obviously favourites last weekend, they were miles better than us on the day. But now we are playing teams who are in and around us. Wigan away is a tough, physical game, they don't score many goals but they don't concede many either.
Hunt said that every player within the Royals camp realises that they are playing for their futures as a Premier League player. And he revealed that everyone within the squad has pulled together in training this week to be ready for the big game.
He added, "The banter has been flying this week, and if all fails we will have Mario Kart for the coach journey up - there are always rows when that happens!
"We have a good team ethic and whoever is not in the team will encourage the players who are picked to do well. Whoever is picked for Saturday, we all know that we are all playing for our futures as a Premiership footballer."
Hunt missed the 2-0 defeat at Arsenal last week with a slight hamstring injury. But he says he is over the problem and hopes to be back in the team for the Wigan game.
He added, "I was rested at the weekend, because the hamstring had been troubling me for the last 3 or 4 weeks. I couldn't sprint 100% but hopefully that will change and I will be ok."
