Boss: Two to go, bring it on!
Royals boss Steve Coppell was relatively happy with the battling point gained at the JJB this afternoon.
Speaking in his post-match press conference he said, "Away from home, you just look at trying to keep it ticking along.
"We were stuck on 22 points for quite some time earlier this season, and we were stuck on 32 points for a long time too. So I'm just glad to be off 32!"
Wigan threatened early on, but as the game progressed the Royals came more and more into a tussle that could have a huge bearing on the relegation issues come the end of the season in a couple of weeks' time.
"Once we'd got the initial 15 minutes out of the way, I felt we were getting more and more on top," Coppell continued.
"We had a few things flashing across the goal, but maybe a little bit of a lack of belief at the moment - because we haven't been scoring goals.
"In different circumstances we may have thrown more men forward, and had a little bit more quality on the ball.
"But it's a difficult place to come to - the pitch was a little bit spongy and it's very hard to pass the ball around consistently."
The Royals boss did push for the victory though, knowing that a victory and all three points could really bolster his side's fight against the drop.
"I wanted to get Glen Little on. He gives us a little bit more of an attacking threat - a conventional right-sided threat.
"And he did that again today - but you always think that maybe you are sacrificing something from a solid position.
"Let's face it, if we'd been beaten today we would have lost one point. The benefit of getting three points is worth fighting for and worth gambling for.
"We've done that consistently this year and we will continue to do so throughout."
Leroy Lita added a goal threat up front, on his return from a loan stint at Charlton and Coppell was pleased with the striker's performance and attitude.
"He led the line well. He just fitted back in. We obviously need goals at the moment and I know he's capable of scoring goals for us."
All sorts of drama at White Hart Lane, Eastlands and St Andrew's ended with Birmingham and Bolton taking a point and Fulham remarkably winning at Manchester City.
Those results mean that whatever happens next week, the bottom three won't be decided until the final day of the season when we travel to Derby.
Asked if he had looked at the other results, Coppell admitted he hadn't, but said "I've got to care now haven't I.
"It doesn't matter what you say about looking after your own patch of grass, now, at this stage of the season, the other games will have an affect.
"I haven't looked at the results. I'll just let this result sink in for a bit longer. Although I'm sure someone will tell me the scores in a minute.
"We always knew that it was likely to go to the last couple of games. Now, two games to go, bring it on."
