Coppell: Fans will give their all
Boss Steve Coppell says the fans will give absolutely eveything at our final home game of the season against Tottenham Hotspurs this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
The fixture brings the curtain down on our Madejski Stadium fixtures for 2007/8, and Steve told our online TV station Reading World the players could not ask for better support.
He said, "The fans will give their all, as they've done all year. Early in the season we knew it was going to be a different year from last year, and the support's been terrific.
"You look at the semi-finals in the Champions League this week and all of the managers said how well the fans have done, but to be honest it's easy to be a good supporter when you're winning most of the time!
"The hard thing's to be a committed supporter when you're needed, when it's not going well, you can't see silverware and when you can see the different ways things could go.
"We need the supporters, and the players, to give everything, to just give everything. Shout when there's no reason to shout, run when there's no reason to run.
"Be effervescent when the opposite is almost true. It would be easy to be down. I know the fans will do their job, I trust the players will back it up."
Saturday's game is completely sold out. You can listen to commentary live on Reading World, in association with Reading 107. The show starts at 2pm.
Coppell expects to have Kevin Doyle available after he flew to Ireland for a funeral on Friday. Glen Little is hopeful of recovering from a minor calf strain, but Emerse Fae and Ibrahima Sonko are suspended.
Tottenham have Alan Hutton back, but Ledley King, Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are long-term absentees.
