Minute-by-minute

2:12pm - The teams are in and Reading remain unchanged from the side that started at Wigan last weekend. Glen Little is not named on the bench through injury though, so John Oster is a substitute.

Tottenham are without Dimitar Berbatov today, who also misses out through injury. Darren Bent will partner Robbie Keane up front. Alan Hutton has recovered from a tow injury to take up his position on the right side of defence.

2:32pm - The Royals, coming out to warm up, are given a good reception from a crowd intending to will their team on to a vital victory this afternoon.

2:50pm - The Player of the Season vote has been announced. Marcus Hahnemann is third, James Harper is given second and the winner is... Stephen Hunt! He is now having photographs taken with the Chairman and others. As he trots off he motions to the crowd to raise the noise!

2:56pm - The two teams walk out onto the pitch to a great reception. The pitch looks outstanding, the warmer weather means the stands are filled with blue and white hoops and the stage is set.

1 mins - Reading have started brilliantly. On the front foot and swinging the crosses in. Doyle delivers for Hunt to run onto, but Dawson scrambles it clear before Hunt can geta  shot in. Shorey then whips it in but again Tottenham head clear.

5 mins - Spurs have got themselves a foothold now and Malbranque chips a cross in from the left side of the box. Bent rises above his marker but directs a header wide of the far post.

7 mins - Lita wins a corner and it's taken short to Shorey. He chips it in, two Spurs players get in each others way in heading it, but it spins towards the byline and Cerny picks it up.

10 mins - Lita wins another corner and Harper delivers this one. It flies dangerously into the box and Cerny clambers over bodies to punch it away. A ree kick is given for a foul on the keeper.

11 mins - Bent is slid in behind the back line by Malbranque and Rosenior has to be careful not to clip him. The striker has a great chance here and drives low with his left foot but Hahnemann saves well with his leg shin and Shorey hoiks it clear.

12 mins - Leroy turns his man well and feeds Hunt out on the left. He delivers a deep ball to the far post and Spurs have to nod it behind. A corner on the right side now is well swept in but Cerny again gets a strong punch to it.

13 mins - Huddlestone is slid in now and he retrieves it from the byline. He plays an early cutback to the near post where Keane tries to flick it home but Ingimarsson scrambles it clear. Danger again though.

16 mins - GOAL! From a throw deep in their own half, Spurs attack at pace. Reading are backtracking as Bent closes in and the ball skids into Keane's path. He cleverly takes it past the last man and touches it wide of Hahnemann and inside the right post.

18 mins - Numbers in the box here for Reading and they work it to Lita in a bit of space to the left of the goal. He lashes a shot just over the bar but Reading almost responded.

22 mins - Spurs are too good at the moment. Quick passing on the edge of the area earns Spurs a free kick in a very dangerous position. Keane takes it, arcs it around the wall and Hahnemann does well to push it wide.

24 mins - Intricate work on the edge of the box sees Keane play Malbranque in and the midfielder touches it home. The offside flag is up. Replays suggest it was very very tight. No goal though. Reading are hanging on a bit.

26 mins - Steve Coppell is down pitchside already and barking out instructions from the technical area.

28 mins - Hunt and Shorey lose possession on half way and Spurs breat at pace through Bent. It's three on one almost but Bent holds onto it and looks to shoot himself, only for a last ditch tackle to allow enough bodies back to avert the danger.

31 mins - Bikey plays a delightful ball with the outside of his foot and Doyle is racing after it. He gets to the byline but Woodgate recovers to concede a corner. Spurs clear calmly.

33 mins - Bikey again does well to turn away from danger and fizz it out to Shorey on the left. He gets to the byline and somehow works a cross to the far post but its too long for Kitson and Tottenham clear again.

35 mins - Doyle is now playing in the hole behind the front two now. Dawson's clearance clatters against Hutton and it falls for Hunt 20 yards out. He snatches at his shot and it bobbles wide.

42 mins - More superb passing sees Kene play himself in with an intrictae set of one-twos. Rosenior has tracked him well from the right and slides in to block brilliantly. The corner is nodded harmlessly wide.

45 mins - Lita wins a free kick 35 yards out and Shorey delivers a tempting ball into the box. No-one can get on the end of it though and it drifts wide.

HALF TIME - Spurs end the minute of injury time passing it about at will. The first five minutes looked promising but Tottenham have wrenched control of this game away from Reading. A major transformation - both a Royals upturn and a Spurs lapse - if this is not going to end in a Spurs win.

46 mins - Spurs don't look like losing interest - from the kick off they fly forward and Bent nods an effort into Hahnemann's hands. He is penalised for using Ingimarsson for leverage.

47 mins - Hutton chips the ball into Keane and Reading appeal for offside. Nothing is given and the striker has all the time in the world to shoot. He lashes across the face of goal and Malbranque slides in but clatters it into the side netting. A let off.

49 mins - Doyle does well to weave his way to the byline on the left and chip a cross in. Kitson rises with Cerny and the Czech keeper spills it but there's no-one there to capitalise on the scraps.

50 mins- Keane and Malbranque brilliantly exchange passes on the left. The latter chips it over for Jenas, who sides it one more for Bent. Shorey does amazingly to slide in and block his shot before Hahnemann smothers it.

52 mins - Kitson controls Shorey's ball to feet and turns back onto his right foot. He swings a wild right leg at a shot from the right and it flies well wide.

55 mins - Kitson threads a good ball through to Lita. He has some space for a change and with only Doyle to cut it back to, Lita tries to bend one past Cerny from a tight angle on the left. Cerny reads it though and calmly gathers.

59 mins - Kitson plays it into Lita, who holds off his man. He tees up Bikey on the edge of the area and the Cameroonian fires a powerful effort at goal. It takes a deflection and flies over but that was a good chance and a well-hit effort. The corner timidly sails out of play at the far post.

59 mins - Spurs substitution. Huddlestone is replaced by Jamie O'Hara.

65 mins - Reading substitution. Bikey is replaced by Marek Matejovsky.

68 mins - Doyle does well to win Hahnemann's long kick and he centres it to Kitson near the penalty spot. He can't fashion a shot and he tees up Matejovsky, who sweeps an edge of the area effort just wide of the left post.

70 mins - Kitson draws the foul from Hutton and earns a free kick on the left near the corner flag. Shorey's cross skims off a Spurs head and a corner on the other side arises.Shorey again, this one's better but it the touch only takes it away from goal.

73 mins - Much better from Reading. Peppering the Spurs area. Harper slides a sublime ball in for Lita, but Lita doesn't read it and it dibbles behind for a goal kick. Good pressure though.

75 mins - A Reading move breaks down and O'Hara scampers forward down the middle. He feeds Bent to his left and the striker slams a low drive against the inside of the right post, along the line and behind. That could have been game over.

77 mins - Shorey finds Matejovsky on the left who cuts a cross into the box. Kitson tries to muster a volley but the ball is behind him and he can't quite get the angle to trouble Cerny.

77 mins - Spurs substitution. Keane is replaced by Prince-Boateng.

80 mins - Ivar Ingimarsson is allowed the time and space to line up a shot from 25 yards. He pulls the trigger and connects well, but Cerny is behind it and he gathers it at the second attempt.

81 mins - Reading substitution. Long is on for Doyle.

83 mins - Shorey finds Rosenior with a cross that is flicked on by Kitson and Rosenior shoots. He appeals for a handball as it is blocked but nothing is given.

84 mins - Matejovsky wins a free kick on the edge of the box left of centre. Shorey swings it in but Cerny tips it behind for a corner which is calmly cleared.

86 mins - Shorey crosses to Lita, who nods it into Kitson's path. He takes a touch and then rifles a left footed effort toward the near post but Cerny parries. That was the best chance Reading have had and Cerny has had to make a good save.

87 mins - Long chests it under control with his back to goal on the penalty spot. He can't swivel and shoot but he lays it off for Rosenior, who stabs goalwards. Cerny musters a stunnign save to claw it wide. Reading so unlucky.

88 mins - Reading substitution. Rosenior is replaced by John Oster. From the corner a stretching Duberry can only nod over at the far post.

90 mins - Three minutes of injury time. Reading are running out of time. A low cross is arrowed into Lita, who glances it well wide.

90(+2) mins - Oster floats a cross in but it's too high for Kitson and that might be Reading's last chance.

90(+3) mins - Time for one more. Kitson collects Hahnemann's long kick and slides in Long. He tries a left footed effort but he scuffs it and Cerny easily gathers.

FULL TIME - That's it. Much better from Reading in the second half, and they were unlucky not to score, but too little too late.

Fulham have won against Birmingham so go ahead of the Royals going into the final day. Reading are in the relegation zone and must get something at Derby to survive. What they need depends on Fulham, and even a win at Pride Park may not be enough for Steve Coppell's men.

Bolton host Sunderland in the late kick off, and a win would take them clear of the Royals and relegation.
