Q&A with Kevin Doyle
Kevin it's a big week for the club?
It's massive. Obviously it's come down to this. We've been saying all along that we'd be fine but now it's the last game. And it's not even in our hands so we have to win and hope that Fulham don't. It's all or nothing on Sunday and we'll either be very happy this time next week or very depressed.
Your thoughts on the Tottenham game, it was disappointing but there are positives to take?
Yes, I suppose. They scored and then had a second disallowed which probably wasn't offside so we got away with that I suppose. We were better in the second half and we've been like that this season, we don't seem to get anywhere with it. We had a bit of possession and got in and around their penalty area but didn't look like scoring. That's happened a lot this season and we can't quite put our finger on why.
The mood must have been low after the game but have you had time to reflect and get spirits back up?
Yes, it was a nice sunny day at training on Tuesday and there were a few people happy to see that. But they realise what it's all about. Everyone's quiet and focused, thinking about what could happen on Sunday. We're all concentrating on giving it everything to be right for Sunday and do what's needed.
Does the fact that it's out of our hands take away some of the pressure in a way. If a team are breathing over your shoulder you can be nervous, where as we know all we can do is win our game?
I think the fact that all along we've been just out of it but now we're in the bottom three and it's not up to us means it's probably a bit of pressure off us. We just know we have to win and hope someone else messes up. Fulham have gone from thinking they are nearly relegated to feeling they might be nearly safe. Maybe that will affect their mindset and help us.
In terms of Derby, they are already relegated and will set the record for the lowest points total. Will they be dangerous opponents?
It's the last home game of the season for them, and they definitely know they won't be in the Premier League next season. There is no pressure on them, they can just go out and play their football. Whereas for us it's a massive, massive game. But there's no two ways about it, on form and results this season if there's any team you want to play on the last game of the season then it's Derby. There's no excuses for us if we don't perform on the day.
Is the spirit in the camp good for this final week of training?
Yes, all the loan players are back as well so there's some fresh faces around. Hopefully they'll bring some fun to the training ground and change.
A final positive message to the fans that we feel we can get out of it?
Definitely, we all still believe. If we win on Sunday and Fulham don't then we're safe. It's one game and it's all to play for. Fulham have an extremely tough game to go to Portsmouth. They are getting ready for the cup final and they'll be wanting to finish the season strongly, it won't just be an end of season game for them.
