Matejovsky in Euro 2008 squad
Marek Matejovsky has been named in the provisional Czech Republic squad for this summer's UEFA Euro 2008 Championships in Austria and Switzerland.
The midfield man has six caps to his name, and with Tomas Rosicky injured and Pavel Nedved retired, there is a good chance that our midfielder could play a key role.
Karel Bruckner has named two more English-based players in his part, with Petr Cech (Chelsea) and Milan Baros (Portsmouth) also included.
Squad: Cech (Chelsea), Blazek (Nuremberg), Zitka (Anderlecht); Grygera (Juventus), Jankulovski (AC Milan), Kadlec (Sparta Prague), Kovac (Spartak Moscow), Pospech (Copenhagen), Rozehnal (Lazio), Sivok (Sparta Prague), Ujfalusi (Fiorentina); Galasek (Nuremberg), Jarolim (Hamburg), Matejovsky (Reading), Plasil (Osasuna), Pudil (Slavia Prague), Polak (Anderlecht), Sionko (Copenhagen), Vlcek (Anderlecht); Baros (Portsmouth), Fenin (Frankfurt), Koller (Nuremberg), Sverkos (Banik Ostrava).
The Czechs are in Group A, and do battle with co-host nation Switzerland in the very first game of the tournament at 5pm on Saturday 7th June.
They then take on Portugal on Wednesday 11th June, followed by Turkey on Sunday 15th.
