Scott Davies is recovering from a heel operation and hopes to be ready for the start of Reading's pre-season campaign.

The midfielder underwent surgery on a niggling problem which had troubled him towards the end of last season.

He spent last season on-loan at Aldershot Town, where he made a significant impact in helping them to the Football Conference title, which they ran away with by racking up 101 points to win in style. Davies bagged nine goals during the campaign, winning a whole host of plaudits along the way.

Royals physio Jon Fearn said, "Scott had an operation on his heel and removed some bone that had been irritating him for a long time.

"He was in plaster for a while but he is recuperating well now."
