Doyle in-depth: Part four
In the final part of Kevin Doyle's in-depth interview, he discusses our season in the Premier League.
Doyle on relegation
"It's been a frustrating season for everyone at Reading, myself included, but we will learn from it and we will turn it into a positive when we get back to work after the summer. That's the only way to deal with it.
"There are a number of reasons why we didn't do as well in the second season at this level.
"Our first season in the Premiership was so exciting and we had so much nervous energy about us, whereas this season was more routine, you didn't have that burst of excitement that you had the first year.
"You didn't have that extra yard. Then a lot of the teams that we were beating last season went out and spent a lot of money in the summer, which made it harder for the likes of ourselves second time around.
"We kept the same squad with the exception of Steve Sidwell, and individually we haven't played as well but we realise that and we know we have to learn from it."
Doyle on speculation
"It's nice more than anything to see your name in the papers like that, it's better for your ego to be linked with clubs but it doesn't make you a better footballer.
"The amount of people who are linked to different clubs every time the window opens is unbelievable. I'd love some day to see all the transfers go through. No one would be at a club five minutes!"
