American international winger who signed in July 2004 from DC United for an undisclosed fee widely reported to be in the region of $1.5million.
At only 15 he became the youngest ever player in a CONCACAF qualifier when he appeared for the USA's under 17s, and he made his full debut for the US national team in October 2000.
After a stop-start first season in English football, he had an excellent campaign in helping the Royals win the Championship title, scoring seven goals from 44 league starts.
Was then named in Bruce Arena's squad for the 2006 World Cup, playing in all three of their Group E games against Ghana, Italy and the Czech Republic. In doing so he was the first Reading player ever to play in the World Cup.
Was dogged by injury in the early part of 2006/7, and he eventually succumbed to an operation which ruled him out until the summer. Made his comeback in a 1-0 win at home to Everton in August 2007, and scored a great goal in the 4-2 Carling Cup defeat at home to Liverpool in September.
