John Oster gained a shock win over Phil 'The Power' Taylor in the Royal Families Darts Night at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night!

The winger is regarded as the best darts player amongst our squad and was selected for a special exhibition match against the multi-World title winner, and overturned the form book to gain a 2-0 victory.

John's darts name on the night was 'The Hammer' and he certainly lived up to his billing!

The evening was a great success, with all 450 tickets selling out to take the Royal Families total fundraising for the year past the £80,000 mark.

An auction of special items raised more than £4,000, including Loyal Royal Simon Holloway paying £1,200 for the honour of playing for Reading in a pre-season friendly!

The other results of the darts night were:

Bobby George & Brynjar Gunnarsson 2
Phil Taylor & Nicky Shorey 1
