Swindon are put to the sword
A fantastic first half display earned the Royals a second consecutive five-goal haul and a comfortable three points against local rivals Swindon on Sunday.
The prolific Laura Woodley again proved too much of a handful for the visiting defence and she opened the scoring only five minutes in with a tidy finish past the Robins' keeper.
Playing excellent high tempo football, Frank Rodriguez's women added a second soon after when a shell-shocked Swindon defender was forced to handle on her goal line.
A red card and a second from the spot for Woodley effectively ended the game as a contest.
Jenny Webb made the numerical advantage count with two excellently taken goals to make it four nil and the fifth was secured before the break.
Jo Chubb had replaced Woodley, who was taken off with a thigh strain, and the substitute soon had her name on the scorecard with an 18-yard effort that sailed over Town's keeper on the stroke of half time.
Bizarrely Swindon were handed a consolation on the hour mark, when the referee controversially awarded Town a free kick for what was deemed to be a back pass.
The set piece was stroked home and six minutes later Kelly Chambers was equally harshly punished with a second yellow card for a strong sliding challenge.
But with ten women on each side the two teams cancelled each other out and the final score ended 5-1 in Reading's favour.
