Chesham 0-2 Reading
Having already won the league, Reading entered their last game of the season with the aim of remaining unbeaten in the league for a second season. Chesham, fresh from their Berks and Bucks victory, were also equally determined to prevent Reading achieving this.

Reading started brightly and were quickly threatening the Chesham goal, with Rachel Fell setting up Laura Woodley but her shot was blocked. Fell enjoyed an excellent game and was at the centre of most of Reading's attacking moves. Her pace was a constant threat all game.

As the game continued, the determined Chesham side started to disrupt Reading's flow and for the majority of the rest of the half the game became scrappy on the uneven dry surface.

Reading had the majority of possession but were being restricted to long range efforts. It was not until injury time in the first half that they took the lead when they scored through a fine individual effort from Kayleigh Hines. She determinedly won a couple of tackles before driving into the penalty area and her left foot drive found the far corner of the net, reward for another excellent performance form her and also the second game running scoring in injury time in the first half.

She had earlier been unlucky when forcing the Chesham keeper into a fine save when pushing her 25 yard shot onto the bar.

Reading introduced Tash Caswell and Cheryl Williams for Jenny Webb and Lauren May at half-time as they tried to impose themselves more on the game in the second-half.

Although Chesham had nothing to play for, they continued to work and try to make it difficult for Reading throughout the match. Reading nearly added to their lead when a fine run and left wing cross from Woodley just evaded Fell at the far post.

Their second finally came when Williams free-kick found Kelly Chambers, whose header was again well saved by the keeper, but Emma Jayne Pearmine followed up to tap into the empty net.

For the last twenty minutes Chesham pressed forward to try to get back into the game, but the defence, superbly marshalled again by Kelly Chambers, were not to be denied another clean sheet, the eleventh of the season and the eighth in the last nine games.

As the whistle blew to signal the end of the season, Reading celebrated their second season unbeaten in the league and a second successive promotion.

This fantastic achievement has seen them win 38 of their 42 games scoring 171 goals in the process while only conceding 21.

The players are looking forward to a well deserved break before coming back refreshed for the next challenge of playing in the National Premier League South Division.

Burnham 1-5 Reading res
An early kick off on a 3G pitch made a change for the reserves this past weekend as they visit Burnham Grammar School and their new pitch.

Fresh from the club's promotion last week, Reading knew Burnham would be keen to spoil any celebrations but the first 15 minutes saw an onslaught on the Burnham goal. On a very small pitch Reading tried to play quick flowing football and Burnham had done well to limit clear goal-scoring opportunities

Burnham's goalkeeper was replaced after 15 minutes through a hand injury and Amy Saunders did well as her stand in. It was only thanks to some strong defending from centre back pairing Nicole Farley and Sophie Measham that Burnham did not take the lead and Measham was replaced by Becky Todd on 26 minutes after being kicked in the arm.

On 37 minutes Laura Derlacki found Lauren Welch on the edge of the box and her cross-cum shot found the lively Rachel Fell at the back post and she hammered the ball home from close range.

Only five minutes later Derlacki was again involved as she broke Burnham's high line and ran clear to slot the ball past Saunders in the Burnham goal. 2-0 was the half time scoreline.

Reading came out quickly again in the second half and got a penalty on 54 minutes when Derlacki was rugby tackled to the floor. Derlacki picked herself up and tucked the ball away for 3-0.

Fi Trimmer replaced Farley on 64 and Kayleigh Mitchell replaced Leila Dickinson on 67. There were plenty of chances for to put the game out of sight but we did not take them and on 75 minutes Burnham fired a warning header just wide when well placed.

On 83 they got their consolation goal when Reading's defence failed to clear and Burnham's forward finished well.

The final 5 minutes saw Reading claim another two goals with Tracey Beales rounding the keeper for her 16th of the season and Fell firing home from 20 yards out to end the game 5-1.

Derlacki and Fell should have claimed hat tricks late on but both players can be pleased with impressive individual displays.

Another three points on the board and a win in their final fixture against Newport Pagnell will see the reserves claim second in the league which would have guaranteed them a promotion place even if the first team hadn't secured the clubs promotion to the premier league last weekend.

Assistant manager Craig Drummond said afterwards, "Another good win for the girls but everyone now is looking forward to next season and competing against the likes of Fulham, Portsmouth and Charlton every week. It is going to be a busy summer for the club but there are even more exciting times ahead"
